Today’s Tidbits

  • If it’s Wednesday, it’s my turn to handle all the reporting duties. The children have each filed at least one report this week.
  • We finished working with Dax’s  and Carmen’s Agendas. This week the EK kids worked on identifying the sight word “the” within the Agenda and on the big sheets.

We also worked with the big sheets for Zippy, I’m a Little Scarecrow, Jolly Wolly and I Saw a Ghost.

  • We worked on letter Bb in both classes. We played the Dictionary Game, and the children all drew Bb pictures in their journals. The PK3 kids also played the Letter Exchange game.
  • The children traced number 17 on the Calendars and “read” their Calendar poems. The EK kids also found and marked the row in their Calendar poem with 3 letter Bbs, and  colored the scarecrow’s shoes brown for letter Bb.
  • We read The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams and Megan Lloyd in EK and Pumpkin Heads by Wendell Minor in PK3, picked Top Book, and marked off number 20 in both classes on our 100 Book Party trackers.
  • We sang Zippy, Animal Alphabet, We’ll Meet Again, and Happy Trails to You.
  • We had proud flag holders in both classes.
  • The PK3 kids made up their own songs on the kid keyboard today. They experimented with the different buttons, and were delighted with some of the sounds they discovered. Check out the picture of Brixton with his friends gathered around him. He happened upon a sound effect that sounded quite monsterish!
  • Blake’s birthday is coming up this weekend, so she made her birthday crown today. We sang Happy Birthday and The Unbirthday Song to her, and ate the brownies she brought in for snack. She also brought Kinder Joy eggs for her pals to take home, which they were all very happy to do. Thanks for the yummy snack and for sharing a little present with your friends for your birthday, Blake!
  • We did snack math and had cheese and crackers in EK and Blake’s brownies in PK3. After the snack was passed out in PK3, everybody decided to have brownies so the actual snack math worked out to 7 YESes and 0 NOs.
  • The children ended the day dancing to Nat King Cole’s classic Autumn Leaves and tossing and catching scarves representing falling leaves.
