Hogarth Country Day School is a small, independent preschool in Epping, New Hampshire, serving children ages 2½ through 5 in part-time, half-day classes. Established in 1980, Hogarth has been a first school for generations of local children, and today some of our former students are bringing their own children through the same classroom door.
Hogarth is not a daycare program. We are an academic-year preschool designed specifically for young children, with plenty of time for play, friendship, laughter, creativity, and the kind of learning that happens when children are genuinely interested in what they are doing.

The children are the best indicators of the culture a school has created. At Hogarth, you’ll find children who are busy, engaged, curious, comfortable, and very much at home.
What makes Hogarth different?
Hogarth’s curriculum has been developed over more than four decades in the classroom by founder and teaching director Andrea Murphy, a longtime preschool teacher and published children’s author whose work has been commissioned by educational publishers.
The result is an original curriculum created specifically for young children, combining play-based academics with books, music, language, hands-on experiences, traditions, projects, and plenty of room for childhood.
Our goal is not simply to prepare children for kindergarten. We want children to leave Hogarth believing that school is a place where interesting things happen, where they are capable, where their ideas matter, and where learning feels good.
